Description
Cascara, dried coffee berry, or coffee cherry, is a tea-like drink.
The coffee cherry contains the actual coffee beans. Coffee berries have less caffeine than coffee, but almost the same amount as tea.
Cascara is suitable for consumption either hot or cold, but it is also suitable for use as an ingredient in other drinks.
The brewed drink is orange-red in color.
Brewing time 8-10 minutes, water temperature 90-100 degrees, dosage amount 2 teaspoons/cup or 8-10 teaspoons per liter.
Coffee berries have no fat, sodium or fiber. Cascara contains potassium and some carbohydrates, fructose, and protein.
A cup of coffee berries contains about 13% of the daily potassium requirement and 4% of the daily calcium requirement. Coffee berries are rich in antioxidants.
